In today's digital world, most of our documents live on computers, phones, and in the cloud. But sometimes you need a hard copy — for a meeting, a legal document, a school assignment, an application, or any number of reasons. The problem is that not everyone has a printer, and even those who do often find it broken, out of ink, or incapable of handling the job they need.
This is where email-to-print services come in. The concept is simple: you email your document to a print shop, and they have it printed and ready for you to pick up. It is one of the most convenient ways to get documents printed, and at Magic Print & Copy in North Vancouver, we have been offering this service to our customers for years.
How Email-to-Print Works at Magic Print & Copy
The process could not be easier:
Step 1: Prepare Your File
Make sure your document is in a printable format. We accept all common file types including:
- PDF (recommended — preserves formatting perfectly)
- Microsoft Word (.doc, .docx)
- Microsoft PowerPoint (.ppt, .pptx)
- Microsoft Excel (.xls, .xlsx)
- Image files (.jpg, .png, .tiff)
- And many other formats
If possible, save your document as a PDF before emailing it. PDFs preserve your layout, fonts, and formatting exactly as you designed them, regardless of what software or device we open them on.
Step 2: Email Your File
Send your document to our email address along with the following information:
- Your name so we know who is picking up
- Number of copies you need
- Color or black and white preference
- Paper size (letter, legal, tabloid, etc.)
- Single-sided or double-sided printing
- Any special instructions (stapled, collated, specific paper stock, etc.)
Step 3: We Print It
Our team receives your email, reviews your file to make sure everything looks correct, and prints it according to your specifications. If we notice any potential issues (low resolution images, missing fonts, unusual formatting), we will contact you before printing to make sure the output meets your expectations.
Step 4: Pick It Up
Your documents will be printed and ready for pickup at our shop at 110 3rd St W, North Vancouver, BC V7M 1E8. For most jobs, your prints are ready within an hour or two. For larger or more complex jobs, we will let you know the expected completion time.
Why Email-to-Print Is So Popular
Email-to-print has become one of our most requested services for several good reasons:
Convenience
You do not have to be physically present when the printing happens. Email your file from home, from the office, or from your phone while you are on the go. The prints are ready when you arrive at the shop. No waiting, no standing around while pages come out one by one.
No Technical Setup
Unlike WiFi printing, Bluetooth printing, or app-based printing, email-to-print requires zero technical setup. If you can send an email, you can get your documents printed. No apps to install, no networks to connect to, no drivers to update. It works from any device — phone, tablet, laptop, or desktop computer.
Works from Anywhere
You do not need to be near the shop to send your files. Email them from home, from the office, from a coffee shop, or from another city. As long as you can get to the shop to pick them up (or have us deliver them), you are good.
Quality Results
Email-to-print at a professional print shop gives you commercial-grade quality. Sharp text, vivid colors, consistent output on every page. This is especially important for documents that need to look professional — resumes, proposals, presentations, contracts, and client-facing materials.
What Can You Email for Printing?
Almost anything:
- Work documents — reports, proposals, contracts, presentations, spreadsheets
- School assignments — essays, projects, research papers, study guides
- Personal documents — tax forms, medical records, travel itineraries, recipes
- Photos — digital photos from your phone or camera for physical prints
- Legal documents — applications, forms, affidavits, agreements
- Creative projects — posters, flyers, invitations, greeting cards
Tips for the Best Email-to-Print Results
Save as PDF
Always save your document as a PDF before emailing. This ensures your formatting stays exactly as intended, regardless of what software or operating system we use to open it.
Check File Size
Most email providers limit attachment sizes to 25 MB. If your file is larger, use a cloud storage link (Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive) instead of attaching the file directly.
Include Clear Instructions
The more specific you are in your email, the faster and more accurately we can complete your job. Include copy count, color preferences, paper size, and any special finishing requests.
Proofread Before Sending
Double-check your document for typos, formatting issues, and correct page order before you email it. It is much easier (and cheaper) to fix errors in the digital file than to reprint after the fact.
Other Ways to Get Your Files to Us
In addition to email, we also accept files via:
- USB drive — bring your files on a thumb drive
- Cloud storage — share a Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive link
- WiFi printing — connect your phone or laptop to our in-store wireless network
- In-person — bring your device and we will help you transfer the files
